The Tassel is Worth the Hassle
About XAE

Founded at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Chi Alpha Epsilon was organized in 1989. Responding to an increased need to acknowledge the continuing successes of students in the Academic Development Program and recognizing that students who share similar experiences could serve as significant models for others, a Greek letter honor society was proposed by Dr. Elbert Saddler. A university psychologist and counseling coordinator for the ACT 101 Program, Dr. Saddler identified eligible students and alumni to form the nucleus who are now the Founding Members of XAE.

The Alpha Delta Chapter was chartered April 14, 1998 by the Groups Program. The Honorable Janice Wiggins saw fit for an honor society for the Groups Program honoring Groups students who over excelled in their course-work.
A graduate student informed the Honorable Lorna Moir about Chi Alpha Epsilon, who also worked with the Groups Program. Further connections were made with the founder, the Honorable Dr. Saddler to make XAE a presence on IU’s campus. XAE is now open to Groups students and 21st Century Scholars.
